Tour overview

Sarajevo – a “living legend,” a city that endured 1,425 days under siege: without electricity, water, gas, and basic necessities.

“Many ask us how it’s possible that, after everything this city has been through, there’s still a warmth radiating from it. Our answer is the ‘Sarajevo spirit.’ Sarajevans gave their lives to preserve that spirit, which signifies coexistence and unity.

Throughout this tour, we’ll paint a picture for you of what life was like in a war-torn city, surrounded from all sides.

Many directors and writers found inspiration in the places we’ll take you to, resulting in numerous films and books about wartime Sarajevo. We’ll share with you those unforgettable stories, etched into each of us from that period.”

Tour itinerary

Departure of the group in front of the Vijećnica or another location according to the passengers’ preferences.

For many  citizens of Sarajevo this place is a reminder of the war. The tunnel extended under the airport and served for the distribution of food and weapons. Preserved during the war, it now provides the opportunity to feel its significance for survival.

“Lift me up a bit to see my Sarajevo once more.” – the words of a severely wounded fighter who gave his life for the defense of his city.
Places where you will see Sarajevo in the palm of your hand, places that witnessed the life of a city, were the lines from which the enemy extinguished the lives of Sarajevans but also became symbols of resistance and defense of Sarajevo.

“A drop of my blood flowed, and Bosnia did not dry up.” – an inscription on the memorial plaque erected on this bridge in honor of the first innocent victims of the aggression, Suada and Olga. We will tell you interesting facts about Vrbanja Bridge related to the wartime events in Sarajevo.

Beware of snipers! – “If you see a piece of the hill, the hill sees you.”
City congestion on the main road and a large number of people on the street were prevented. Along the street, snipers were positioned on skyscrapers, targeting civilians and creating an atmosphere of an open-air camp. We will show you places from which aggressors extinguished many lives and share some documented stories.

One of the most beautiful buildings from the Austro-Hungarian period and a key symbol of the city of Sarajevo. City Hall was a municipal library that housed many documents testifying to the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including 155,000 unique books and manuscripts. During the war, it was set on fire, and most records were destroyed. It has been reconstructed to its original appearance and has been open to visitors since 2014.
